Iran Reaffirms Support for Strengthening Asian Cooperation Forum
WANA (Feb 11) – Nasser Al-Mutairi, Secretary-General of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD), met with Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, to present a report on the latest developments in the organization’s activities.
Al-Mutairi discussed the outcomes of the recent ACD Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Tehran and the Summit of Heads of State in Doha. He commended Iran’s role during its presidency of the forum and emphasized the need for a more active role for the ACD in enhancing cooperation among member states in various sectors.
Foreign Minister Araghchi reiterated the importance of regional cooperation mechanisms like the ACD in advancing the interests of Asian nations. He also reaffirmed Iran’s support for the summit’s decision to work toward transforming the ACD into an international organization.
Araghchi further expressed gratitude to the Kuwaiti government for hosting the ACD Secretariat and providing its continued support.
The Asia Cooperation Dialogue comprises 35 Asian nations, with Iran holding its presidency from September 2023 to January 2025.
